Kekova is a little island off the coast of Demre. The island is well-known for its crystal blue seas and is a popular diving and snorkelling destination. The drowned city of Kekova, which was flooded by an earthquake in the second century AD, is located on the island. Underwater, the remnants of the city may still be visible, making it a popular diving location. The island also has a few tiny communities and historical remains.

The bus will next travel to Kekova’s small yet charming port. When you get at the harbour, you will board a boat for an entertaining and instructive boat tour. The boat has a glass bottom and is ideal for seeing and enjoying the underwater relics of the old city.

Throughout the boat trip, you’ll be able to see the underwater architecture and the steps leading to this buried metropolis. The educated tour guide will provide an in-depth description of this ancient Lycian city’s history. As the boat reaches the island of Kekova, you will see the defensive walls and the ruins of a Byzantine church. The boat will return to the port, from where you may take a bus to Myra’s ancient city. The rock-cut tombs and amphitheatre make this ancient city famous, as your tour guide will explain.

The Church of Saint Nicholas:

The expedition proceeds toward Demre from the Church of Saint Nicholas. This holy place is popular because it has a marble sarcophagus that many believe is the original burial of St. Nicholas. The Church is now a museum that attracts thousands of visitors each year.

You will be able to have a freshly prepared lunch in a local neighbourhood restaurant. Because this is your final stop, take advantage of the opportunity to relax over lunch. After the lunch break, the bus will resume its journey back to Kemer. The full-day trip concludes when you return to your accommodation.
